In a shocking development in the US, a painter named Greg Manteufel developed a bacterial infection after a dog licked him. Doctors have said that the bacteria's name is Capnocytophaga Canimorsus, which is commonly found in dogs and cats. While it's not usually harmful to human beings, there may be rarest of rare cases when the bacteria can poison the blood. It can lead to even death.
In the case of Greg Manteufel, the infection started causing flu-like symptoms like fever and vomiting. By the next morning, the man became delirious. Hours later, there were bruises all over his body. His wife, who took him to the hospital, has said that those bruises were not there just before she took him to the hospital.
These bruises were clots, which blocked the flow of blood to his extremities, resulting in the death of tissues and muscles. The doctors then decided to amputate Greg's legs and hands to save him from further spread of infection. The medical rarity has shocked many across the world.
