In a gruesome act, a dog tied to the boot of a moving car was dragged along the road in Kerala's Kottayam district, inflicting unspeakable horrors on the canine. The incident happened on Sunday.
A youth identified as Jehu Thomas Kuruvilla, 22, tied the dog to the car and dragged it on his speeding car. The locals who witnessed the incident tried to chase down the speeding vehicle though to no avail. The black labrador was found dead later. The footage of the crime was collected from a nearby CCTV camera and the locals filed a case at the Ayarkunnam police station. While the police interrogated the youngster, he said that he was unaware that his family had tied the dog to the back of the car. “Had not seen the dog behind the car. Came to know about it only when the local people said,” he told the cops. DySP J Santhosh Kumar said that a case was registered for cruelty against animals.
It may be noted that a similar incident was reported in Ernakulam district late last year had triggered an uproar across the country.
