Well known director of Kannada cinema from the days of ‘Dhuniya’ in 2007 Soori has just remained ‘Kush’ for the fans of Power star Puneeth Rajakumar. There is nothing special in the story and keeping away logic, adding commercial elements – nine action portions he has looked at what sells in the market. A film with huge star cast is not delectable in contents. The runaway boy joining his family to keep up the prestige is story line. The making is exceptionally good and producer M Govindu deserves applause for this grand style. The powerful action, lovely locations, a few good tunes from Harikrishna, power star Puneeth Rajakumar and Radhika Pandit combination and tired looking Dr Ambarish come in forefront of this film ‘Dodmane Hudga’.
As the policy of ‘Dodmane’ is only giving and not taking, it cast a wrong shadow on the eldest son of the family. Rajivappa instead of identifying quality and excellence in his son Surya focus more on his nephew Krishna. This obviously irks Surya. When he is beaten for no mistake, he realizes that it is not his place to live. He moves to Hubballi where a kind hearted Srinivasamurthy brings him up. Working hard Surya shines in Biryani center of his own. At this place Surya saves the modesty of a girl Usha Radhika Pandit – she is Nisha later on when her reality comes up. Usha had come to practice a drama in Hubbali Rangamandira. It is a love with a difference between Nisha and Surya.
At the interval point Surya seeking money from a don in Hubballi (He saved the don once from disaster) for his step father medical attention, he is given a task to finish off a person in a prison. That is none other than his father Rajivappa. The reason for Rajivappa in prison is because of villain cable Babu. In the village of Rajivappa leadership, Cable Babu brings bad name and farmer’s revolt for selling their land by Rajivappa. In the house of Rajivappa, his nephew Krishna turns venomous and joins Cable Babu in anticipation of huge property.
For cheating farmers Rajivappa is sentenced in prison. The entry of Surya and meeting his father Rajivappa – he is like Vajramuni (veteran villain of Kannada cinema) for him in life – the expected developments takes place. Surya saves his father Rajivappa who later gets out of bail. Knowing the danger for his ‘Dodmane’ from cable Babu and team, Surya follows to Mandya the place of his father to settle scores.
Power star Puneeth Rajakumar is cool and comfortable in his action, dance, dialogue and presence is the peak element in the film. Dr Ambarish looks very tired and close up shots; his strain in acting is minus point of this film. Radhika Pandit steals again from her lively performance. For Srinivasamurthy the emotional role is bit easy, Ravishanker is routine, Chikkanna and Rangayana Raghu are not in track of comedy, Avinash is cool in his criminal lawyer role, Sumalatha and Dr Bharathi Vishnuvardhana have small space in the film.
V Harikrishna top song is Abhimanigale nammane Devru…..and the Hubballi accent song is very enjoyable. Cameraman Satya Hegde in this full of action extravaganza film has given complete support.
Action lovers it is a ‘Dasara festival’ treat from Soori and M Govindu.
