Following a successful left total hip replacement surgery at a private super-specialty hospital in Hyderabad, the ex-chief minister, K Chandrashekar Rao (KCR), showcased his recovery progress in a video released by the BRS party on Saturday, December 9.The video portrayed KCR walking with support, demonstrating his practice of putting weight on his leg with the assistance of the hospital's specialists, affirming his good health.
The BRS party posted on social media, stating, "Doctors assisted KCR with a walker, and he affirmed that he is completely fine with no pain." A press release from the BRS party indicated that there's a possibility of KCR being discharged in the next two or three days, with doctors recommending six to eight weeks of rest thereafter.
Dr. Praveen Rao, Consultant Joint Replacement Surgeon at Yashoda Hospital, shared with the media, "The progress of KCR’s health condition is good. He is recovering rapidly." He mentioned that KCR used a walker to move around, emphasizing the positive response of his body. The medical team is incorporating breathing exercises, and KCR is experiencing minimal pain.
The health bulletin from Yashoda Hospitals, titled "Day 1 post-surgery – update," confirmed that KCR is "medically stable." It reported that, in line with international practice guidelines, KCR was mobilized within 12 hours post-surgery, and his treating doctors are satisfied with his progress.
Following the recent defeat of the BRS in the Assembly elections, KCR resigned as the chief minister on December 3. After the fall at his Erravelli residence on December 7, he was admitted to Yashoda Hospitals at Somajiguda, where it was revealed that he had sustained a left hip fracture, necessitating surgery.
After a successful surgery on December 8, Rao is expected to be discharged in the coming days. Meanwhile, the BRS Legislature Party unanimously elected KCR as its leader in his absence on Saturday. Notably, the former chief minister's son and party working president, KT Rama Rao, did not attend the meeting.
