Dr. Sudha Seshayyan, who ‘embalmed’ former Tamil Nadu chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa’s body prior to it being kept at the Rajaji Hall before it was cremated on 06th December, 2016 at the Marina Beach in Chennai, appeared before the one-man Commission of Inquiry probing the mysterious circumstances which preceded the demise of ‘Puratchithalaivi’ who was declared ‘dead’ by the Hospital on 05.12.2016.
Three dots which appeared prominent on Jayalalithaa’s face kicked up huge controversies. After it was alleged by many quarters that there was mystery behind Jayalalithaa’s demise, Govt. of Tamil Nadu appointed Justice Arumuga Swamy (Retd.) to probe the issue and submit a report. Many persons have so far deposed before the Commissions which functions from its ‘Ezhilagam’ office at Chennai opposite Marina.
Summons have also been issued to Sasikala (former aide of the former chief-minister who is believed by many to have betrayed Jayalalithaa and hastened her demise), Apollo’s chief Dr. Pratap Reddy, doctors who treated Jayalalithaa, Sasikala’s niece Krishnapriya, Jayalalithaa’s aide Poonkundran, etc. It was Sudha Seshayyan’s turn to appear before the Commission ans answer queries posed to her.
Speaking to newsmen after the inquiry, Dr. Seshayyan said that she explained to the Commission the process of embalming. “I didn’t meet Jayalalithaa when she was alive but attended to her only for 20 minutes to carry out the process of embalming,” she said. In the meantime, the Commision has given time till 12th January to Apollo Hospitals to submit Jayalalithaa’s entire medical records and treatment details.
