DMK's working president M.K. Stalin announced yesterday the party's decision to hold a 'black flag' demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi when the latter arrives in Tamil Nadu on 15th April.
People of the State have been upset with the BJP-led Centre for not paying heed to Supreme Court's directions (given on Feb.16) to set up a Cauvery Management Board within six weeks. The deadline expired on Thursday (29th March) with the Centre displaying no tangible intent to set up the Board.
Ruling and opposition parties in the State have announced fast protests next week to condemn the Centre's casual attitude in setting up the Cauvery Management Board. The DMK's working council met yesterday under the leadership of M.K. Stalin after which Stalin briefed newsmen about the decisions taken.
"We are to step up the tempo of anti-Centre protests in the Cauvery issue," Stalin said and took the ruling AIADMK to task stating that its MPs didn't have the requisite courage to put in their papers and resign for the sake of people's welfare. "We have decided to hold black flag demonstration against Prime Minister Narendra Modi when he visits the State on April 15," he announced.
