DMK Organisational Secretary and Rajya Sabha MP RS Bharathi had been arrested earlier today from his residence in Nanganallur, Chennai for making derogatory remarks on judges coming from oppressed sections of the society.
RS Bharathi while addressing media prior to his arrest blamed that his arrest is political vendetta as he had recently filed a complaint against Tamil Nadu Deputy Chief Minister O Panneerselvam on corruption charges.
It was before three months in a Kalaignar readers circle program that RS Bharathi spoke in a derogatory manner, saying that it was the Dravidian movement that lead to the rise of judges from oppressed communities, besides also bashing BJP leader H Raja. After the event, a meeting with DMK leader MK Stalin followed and RS Bharathi had apologised for his comments.
