DMK MLA J Anbazhagan passes away due to Covid-19

DMK MLA J Anbazhagan has on Wednesday died days after getting infected with novel coronavirus. He is the first legislator in the country to succumb to the deadly virus.
It was the birthday of the 62-year-old politician today. When DMK patriarch M Karunanidhi was alive, Anbazhagan used to be quite close to him. Holding several important positions in the Dravidian party, the deceased leader was once the DMK's Chennai west district secretary.
As reported by PTI, it was on June 2 that Anbazhagan started complaining of acute respiratory distress. Soon, he tested positive for Covid-19.
Kollywood tracker Ramesh Bala says that the late DMK leader was associated with the Tamil film industry. "He produced Jayam Ravi's 2013 movie 'Aadhi Bhagavan' and also distributed Sundeep Kishan's 'Yaaruda Mahesh," he writes.
