A high-powered meeting of the opposition DMK, which was held at the party’s ‘Anna Arivalayam’ headquarters in Teynampet (Chennai) yesterday, has urged the ruling AIADMK led by EPS-OPS to relinquish office as it had been reduced to a minority.
The meeting of the high-powered committee, which was convened to take stock of the prevailing scenario in the aftermath of the DMK’s humiliating defeat in last week’s R.K. Nagar by-polls, was held under the chairmanship of party’s general secretary Anbazhagan and was attended among others by party’s working president M.K. Stalin and senior leadrs T.R. Baalu, Kanimozhi, Durai Murugan, Ponmudi and others.
The meeting passed several resolutions, some of which are listed below:
• Victory has been achieved in R.K. Nagar by Dinakaran by bribing them with the money earned by looting people in the past.
• Candidates found to have indulged in cash-for-vote practices should be disqualified from contesting in any poll in future.
• Minority ‘AIADMK Govt.’ should relinquish office at once.
• Continuation of the EPS-OPS regime any further would be a violation of the provisions of the Constitution.
• Centre should provide Rs.13,500 crores for relief and rehabilitation work to rehabilitate people/infrastructure affected by ‘Cyclone Ockhi’.
• Action would be initiated against DMK’s local functionaries in R.K. Nagar who failed to discharge their duties which resulted in the party’s humiliating loss.
