DMK has no locus standi to speak about fundamental rights: Tamilisai

Tamil Nadu BJP president Dr. Tamilisai Soundararajan has taken a dig at the DMK in the State stating that the party has no moral right to speak about fundamental rights as it has been allying with the Congress, which enforced Emergency in the seventies.
The BJP-led Centre issued an order late last week authorizing more than a dozen central agencies including IB and CBI to tap/alter netizens’ phone calls/e-mail messages whenever such acts become necessary. Sharing a copy of the above-said order of the Union Home Ministry in his Twitter account, Stalin had recorded that it was a move which went against the fundamental rights of citizens.
“It is totally unacceptable; it should be taken back at once as India doesn’t have 100-crore citizens who need to be monitored at all times,” Stalin had said. Taking on Stalin and re-tweeting him for his comments, Tamilisai said that the DMK, which was allying with Congress (which proclaimed ‘Emergency’ in the 70’s) had no moral right, whatsoever, to speak about ‘fundamental rights’.
“You claim that you suffered a lot personally during Emergency but are now allying with the party which imposed it. You have no moral right to raise questions about fundamental rights. The recent order by the Centre was only to ensure that the nation remains protected at all times,” Tamilisai said.
