Leader of the Opposition and DMK working president M.K. Stalin has warned that the DMK cadres would indulge in ‘prison-filling protest’ if the bus fare hike is not rolled back at once.

Speaking at a party meeting in Cuddalore, Stalin said that the DMK was the leader of the Dravidian movements. He welcomed Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s effort in saying ‘Vanakkam’ in Tamil and tweeting in Tamil on his Twitter account to wish Tamils a happy Pongal.

“The Centre has, however, made Teachers’ Day as ‘Guru Utsav’ and is observing ‘Sanskrit Week’, imposing compulsory Hindi at University level, introducing Sanskrit in new Education Policy, Hindi in SMS sent via phones and in air/rail tickets, etc. The 1965 anti-Hindi agitation should not be forgotten by anybody and we should be ready to indulge in such protests again to save our tradition, culture and language.

“DMK shall organize protests across the State on Saturday and if the bus fare hike is not rolled back, its cadres would get arrested so that prisons in the State are filled to capacity,” he said and urged the cadres to gear up for the protest.
