Divya Sathyaraj the daughter of popular veteran actor Sathyaraj is a nutritionist of repute in Chennai. She has been actively involved in social activities and recently wrote a letter to the Prime Minister of India exposing mal practices by foreign companies in the food and nutrition sector and medicines as well.
Divya has now taken up the cause of the small farmers greatly affected by the COVID 19 pandemic and has appealed to the agricultural minister R. Duraikannu to give them the much needed relief and save them from poverty.
Divya Sathyaraj's statement reads “As a nutritionist i have always believed that food is medicine and food can heal. A stable agricultural sector ensures a nation of food security which will prevent malnourishment to a large extent. The lockdown has crippled the livelihood of small farmers and disrupted the agricultural sector by starving it off buyers; there has been a sharp decline in takers for agricultural produce. People in all walks of life are stressed due to the corona lockdown but unlike other sectors majority of the farming community do not have savings to fall back upon. I request the minister of agricultural sector of taml nadu to give top priority and attention to small farmers and compensate their losses with direct income support”
