Senior Congress leader Mani Shankar Aiyar has suggested that it was a blunder to divide Andhra Pradesh as far as the Congress party's fortunes are concerned.
Speaking at late Jaipal Reddy's memorial, Aiyer said, "I think it's a great tragedy that Jaipal Reddy's political life was ended not by an action of his own but by a decision of the government to split Andhra Pradesh, a decision that has left the party without a single seat in Andhra and Telangana. It was a serious strategic error."
Manmohan Singh, the former Prime Minister, was the only other Congress leader who attended the event. He said that many in India are unhappy with the abrogation of Article 370.
