Gopichand and Tamannaah Bhatia's upcoming sports drama Seetimarr, which is slated to release on April 2, is struggling to make the right noise among the Tollywood trade circles. While director Sampath Nandi and producer Srinivasaa Chitturi have pinned high hopes and are expecting crazy offers for the film, the distributors seem not interested and are quoting well below the asking rate as Seetimarr will face heavy competition from Nagarjuna's Wild Dog, Karthi-starrer Sulthan and Pawan Kalyan's comeback film, Vakeel Saab.
"The makers are quoting huge prices but the distributors are not coming forward to meet the demands as two other films, Wild Dog and Sulthan, are also poised for release on April 2. Further, Pawan Kalyan's much-awaited film, Vakeel Saab will release on April 9. The trade believes that the miserable flop steak of Gopichand and Tamannaah's lack of mass appeal won't yield them favourable results amidst huge competition and they are offering below-par prices," says a source.
Upset with these developments, the makers are now contemplating postponing the film. "The makers' recent efforts to release a peppy folk song, Jwala Reddy too backfired as the tune and the lyrics are being trolled brutally by movie buffs on social media. So they are now planning to pit Seetimaarr against Sekhar Kammula's Love Story on April 16," adds a source.
Seetimaarr also features Digangana Suryavanshi and Bhumika Chawla in supporting roles. Bankrolled by Srinivasaa Silver Screen, the film has both Gopichand and Tamannah as the coaches of Andhra Pradesh and Telangana women's Kabaddi teams.
