The American multinational mass media and entertainment conglomerate Disney is in the news for being the king of the global box-office. Year 2019 was the best for it in more than two decades. Its marketplace dominance, says Variety, is "stunning and historic".
The numbers will blow away your mind. Disney's films made USD 11.10 billion last year in domestic and international markets put together. This is 33% of all domestic box office grosses. Next in the list are Warner Bros, Universal and Sony, at a distant No. 2, 3, and 4.
“Endgame,” “The Lion King,” “Toy Story 4,” “Frozen II,” “Captain Marvel,” and “The Rise of Skywalker”, the top-most performers, were from Disney.
The global figure is an all-time record. No other studio's films ever made that much money in a single year.
