It has been officially announced that, Kevin Mayer who’s the top streaming executive of Walt Disney Co is switching from the entertainment giant to be appointed as the chief executive officer of TikTok, the popular video app run by China’s ByteDance Technology Co.
Kevin Mayer’s appointment will be effective from June 1, the same date he’ll take over as the chief operating officer of ByteDance as well. Kevin is known for successfully launching Disney+ streaming service and in February became Disney’s new chief executive.
Disney+ garnered more than 50 million subscribers within less than five months under the able leadership of Kevin Mayer and now Rebecca Campbell, who has been with Disney for 23 years has been announced to replace Mayer as head of the direct-to-consumer and international division of Disney.
