The Walt Disney Company is cracking down on fraud and disability claims at its parks by announcing stricter measures to control the exploitation of its Disability Access Services (DAS).
If we continue to observe a guest with a disability or impairment making a false statement in order to obtain a DAS on May 20, 2021, they will face park bans at Walt Disney World in Florida and Disneyland in California, effective June 18. We will forfeit any purchased passes or tickets without any refunds.
We created it for disabled guests who had trouble waiting in lines. A small percentage of people with developmental disabilities like autism now reserve it for long waits.
Disneyland and Walt Disney Resort websites have cleared the air over the purpose of DAS. Walt Disney World now requires DAS registrations through a virtual video chat, eliminating the need for in-person registrations. At Disneyland, you do have options with virtual chat or a dedicated window for same-day requests.
As of now, the eligibility for Disability Access Service will only be limited to the guest's immediate family or group, comprising no more than four unrelated individuals. The changes come as Disney tries to make getting into the parks easier amid record attendance and crowding issues.
Disney's move aims to target rising wait times and ensure fairness in attraction orders. The tightening of the DAS rules indicates that the company is making continuous efforts to strike a delicate balance between an inclusive and less-wait experience for guests while ensuring that the overall system is fair and manageable for all.
