Dishas father moves court seeking ban on RGVs Disha Encounter

It's known that Ram Gopal Varma is currently making a film on the rape and murder of Disha, the 26-year-old Hyderabadi woman, who was brutalized and killed in last November. Ahead of the film's release, Sridhar Reddy, the victim's father, has sought a ban on the film. He has petitioned the High Court of Telangana with a request to ban 'Disha Encounter'. He urged that a directive should be issued to the Censor Board to stall the film based on his daughter's rape and murder.

"The film has been made without consulting us. Ram Gopal Varma has got only commercial interests in mind. I appeal to everyone in the State of Telangana to condemn this film. The director has claimed that the film's purpose is to bring awareness. Then, why didn't he consult us?" Sridhar Reddy, Disha's father, asked.

He said that, by putting out the trailer of the film on YouTube, RGV has dishonoured them. "I appeal to the government to take steps towards banning the film," he demanded.

A friend of the victim's family said that RGV should have used some other name instead of Disha. "Disha's family has been in a state of perpetual fear. They haven't been able to muster the courage to send their other daughter out. In this scenario, RGV's film will only make the matters worse for their privacy," she said.
