As the torrential rains have stopped cleaning operations have taken the center stage in relief activities planned across Chennai, the city which was ravaged by severe rains and floods last week.

Many roads and streets in the road have been filled with humongous amount of garbage, silt and sewage and these pose severe health hazards to people living nearby. The Tamil Nadu Government has deployed conservancy staff from other cities of the state apart from sanitary workers of the Chennai corporation for cleaning the city. But massive people participation in this regard has also become the need of the hour. Many volunteers and NGOs have started taking up the cleaning operations in places across the city and the Corporation Councillors and ward members have started seeking support from volunteers to conduct cleaning operations in select localities.

Kollywood members who have been involving themselves in various kinds of relief and rehabilitation activities in the rain-affected Chennai for the past one week, have joined this vital cleaning operations also.

Director Cheran has shared in his Facebook page that he took part in the conservancy work in his locality as the local Councillor requested for volunteers to join hands with the conservancy staff. Director Ameer also joined Cheran and other volunteers and cleaned the roads.

These two filmmakers who have always darred to be different and down to earth have proved their traits yet again in the matter of rain relief operations too. Hats off...!!!
