Koratala Siva, who has been facing plagiarism charges for many months now, has finally spoken on the controversy. Satish Chandra, a novelist, had moved the City Civil Court alleging that Srimanthudu's story is a copy from his novel Chacchenta Prema. Following preliminary scrutiny, the Court issued a notice to the producers of Srimanthudu along with the director.
However, since the issue is sub judice, the producers and Koratala Siva have refused to speak much on the issue. All that Siva has finally said is that he being a writer can never think of plagiarizing the hardwork of another writer. Saying that both the novel and the film are now there for everyone to read and watch to see if they bear resemblances, the Janata Garage director has refused to speak much, citing the reason that the court is already seized of the matter.
Meanwhile, Parachuri Gopala Krishna of the Film Writers' Association has maintained the stand that the Association will present its case only if and when the court asks.
Since the court seems to have noticed a prima facie evidence of plagiarism, looks like the issue is not going to die down anytime soon.
