Director Sandeep Raj Shares Emotional Note; Says “Maybe I Am the Bad Luck”

Colour Photo director Sandeep Raj took to X (formerly Twitter) to share a deeply emotional and self-reflective note, opening up about the struggles and disappointments he has faced during the release phases of his films. His heartfelt post has since resonated strongly with fans and film industry colleagues.

In the message, Sandeep expressed that both Colour Photo and his upcoming film Mowgli “deserved another director instead of me,” acknowledging that despite being backed by incredibly passionate teams, both projects encountered unexpected hurdles just when things started looking promising.

He observed that the two films shared two painful similarities — Unlucky circumstances surrounding their release, and His presence as the director.

“Maybe I am the bad luck. Even I’m starting to feel that way,” Sandeep wrote, revealing how the constant setbacks have shaken his long-held dream of seeing “Directed by Sandeep Raj” shine on the big screen. With a mix of honesty and humour, he added, “I think the silverscreen hates me.”

Speaking about Mowgli, the director praised the unwavering commitment of the entire team — including Roshan, Saroj garu, Sakshi, Harsha, DOP Maruthi, Bhairava, and several others. He described the film as a labour of love built with “passion, sweat, and blood,” making the repeated delays even more heartbreaking.

Despite his frustrations, Sandeep ended the note on a hopeful note, wishing that Mowgli receives all the success it truly deserves. “At least for the team who gave everything,” he wrote.

Sandeep’s candid post has drawn wide support across social media, with fellow filmmakers, actors, technicians, and fans urging him not to lose heart. Many have praised his honesty and reminded him that setbacks do not define a filmmaker’s journey — and that his storytelling voice remains as powerful and unique as ever.
