Until the release of his maiden film 'Subramaniapuram' Sasikumar was not known to anyone. But after its release he became the most promising director of the decade overnight.

Today is the birthday of the director, producer and actor Sasikumar. Sasikumar's debut film 'Subramanipuram' which he also produced and acted in an important supporting role turned out to be a blockbuster and also a cult classic still considered as one of the best films to have emerged in the new millennium.

After this Sasikumar started concentrating more on acting and producing films and in these 7-8 years he has directed only two films the second one being 'Easan' which won critical acclaim.

As a lead actor, Sasikumar has churned out super hits like 'Nadodigal', 'Sundarapandian', 'Poraali' and 'Kutti Puli'. He is also responsible for the much-needed break in director-actor Samuthirakani's career.

Sasikumar has completed shooting for 'Tharai Thappattai' directed by Bala and this film is expected to make more wonders in his acting career. Sasikumar is currently shooting for the film 'Vetrivel' directed by debutante Vasanatha Mani.

As a producer, Sasikumar holds the credit of introducing Pandiraj to the Tamil film industry as a director through the National award winning film 'Pasanga'. He also achieved the honour producing 'Thalaimuraigal' the last film of legendary filmmaker Balu Mahendra in which he also acted in the lead role.
