'Meiyazhagan', starring Karthi and Arvind Swami, was recently released in theatres and received a good response. As of yesterday, the film was trimmed by 18 minutes. It is said that the scenes related to Jallikattu, Cholas, Sterlite and Arvind Swamy praying at a temple are trimmed. In this context, the film's director Premkumar has issued a statement explaining why the film was trimmed. The statement reads as follows:

Change is the question...
Change is the answer.

To my dear audience,

I extend my heartfelt thanks to all of you who have showered immense love on 'Meiyazhagan', a film born out of love. I’m grateful for planting the hope that you are prepared for a cinematic experience that deviates from the conventional style of filmmaking. The numerous shared experiences have increased my confidence in this creation, and I’m truly amazed by the love and appreciation shown by most of you who have embraced and understood 'Meiyazhagan.

However, in response to a few voices expressing concern about the film’s runtime, I must acknowledge that the first responsibility of a creator is to listen to the people. Your satisfaction is paramount to me, and this decision is my way of reciprocating the love you have shown for 'Meiyazhagan.

Therefore, starting today, a few scenes will be trimmed, reducing the runtime by 18 minutes and 42 seconds, making it a total of 2 hours and 38 minutes. While the length of 'Meiyazhagan has been reduced, the love it conveys and the cinematic experience remain entirely intact.

I am deeply thankful to Suriya Anna, Karthi Brother, Rajasekhar Sir (2D), and Shakthi Anna (Sakthi Film Factory) for embracing me and giving me full creative freedom from the very first meeting until today. They have been a strong pillar of support in every circumstance, and they stand with me in this decision to reduce the film’s duration. My heartfelt love and gratitude to them.

I also extend my sincere thanks to the media and press, who have always offered unwavering support.

Love is God,
Love is completeness,
Love is the mystery,
Love is the ultimate truth.
