Critically acclaimed director Nishikanth Kamath has passed away this afternoon at a private hospital in Hyderabad where he was undergoing treatment for liver disease. He rose to fame with his debut Marathi movie ' Dombivali Fast' released in 2005 which received wide praise prompting R. Madhavan to turn producer and remake it in Tamil as 'Evano Oruvan' retaining the director.
The fifty-year-old Nisihikanth Kamat has since made several hit films including 'Drishiyam' , 'Mumbai Meri Jaan and 'Rocky Handsome'. He was planning his dream project 'Darbadar' which was scheduled for a 2022 release. RIP to a filmmaker gone too soon and 2020 is continuing to claim more and more gems of cinema.
Madhavan has expressed his grief writing "2020 continues to throw challenges and tragedies with Gale force wind. I know you are in a wonderful happy place now my dear Friend . RIP as we gape in sadness and longing for you gleeful presence amongst us . The Heaven’s are lucky to have you"
