Grand movie maker Shankar has been known for his big-budget extravaganzas on screen, be it Anniyan, Indian or the recently released Superstar Rajinikanth starrer 2.0 and has been one of the most successful directors of Tamil cinema industry.

The director had debuted in 1993 with his vigilante thriller Gentleman starring action king Arjun and Madhubala, and the movie was a huge blockbuster establishing him as a talented commercial maker.

Today, top directors of Tamil cinema industry joined hands and celebrated Shankar's twenty-five years in films, in a get-together event organized by director Mysskin at his office, and Directors Sasi, Gautham Menon, Balaji Sakthivel, Maniratnam, Ezhil, Atlee, Lingusamy, Vasantha Balan, Pandiraj and Mohan Raja were present in the event.
