Following the popular films that had titles based on weapons, like Thupaaki` and Kathi`, here comes one more film - 8 Thottakkal` to added to the list. The film touted as new-age -cop thriller has been produced by M. Vellapandiyan under the banner Vetrivel Saravana cinemas jointly with Big Print Pictures.

Directed by debutante Sri Ganesh, former assistant of Director Mysskin, the film 8 Thottakkal` has new face Vetri and Aparna Balamurali of Maheshinte Prathikaaram` fame in the lead roles and actors Nasser, M.S.Baskar, Amma Creations T.Siva, Mime Gopi and Meera Mithun in the pivotal roles.K.S Sundaramurthy of Avam` and Graganam` films has done the musical score.

It is to be noted that the Director of the film 8 Thottakkal` Sri Ganesh was a finalist in Nalaya Iyakunar` - Season 3. Speaking about the film. the young filmmaker said "We all know that the assignment of a bullet is to do the job that is being triggered by the pistol. Though there are 8 bullets (Thottakkal) in a pistol, all the bullets will not have the same target rather each bullet will have a different task. This film will be an intense crime thriller revolving around a cop and various characters narrated through an engaging racy screenplay.
