Happy Birthday K.S.Ravikumar

Today is the 60th birthday of veteran director K.S.Ravikumar.
Ravikumar worked as the assistant director of Vikraman right from the latter's debut directorial 'Pudhu Vasantham'. He made his directorial debut with the critically acclaimed thriller 'Puriyadha Pudhir'.
Ravikumar started making rural based commercial entertainers such as 'Cheran Pandian' and 'Natttamai' with Sarathkumar in the lead. Both the films were blockbusters and the latter is a path breaking film in the career of its lead actor and the director. Ravikumar and Sarathkumar made one of the highly successful actor-director duos of Tamil cinema. The duo delivered 'Natpukkaga' which was a blockbuster that was remade in many Indian languages.
From the mid 90s Ravikumar started uniting with Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan, the two stalwarts of Tamil cinema. His first film with Rajini was 'Muthu' and with Kamal was 'Avvai Shanmugi'. Both the films were blockbusters. He has worked n four films with Kamal Haasan that includes'Thenali', 'Pancathanthiram' 'Dasavatharam' and 'Manmadhan Ambu'. He directed 'Padaiyappa' which was one of the biggest blockbuster in Rajinikanth's career and 'Lingaa' was his third film with the Superstar. He is a good friend of both the legendary stars.
As a director he played an important role in actor Ajith's career. He gave two blockbusters 'Villain' and 'Varalaaru' at crucial stages of the star's career. He has also worked with Vijay, Suriya and Silambarasan in the films 'Minsara Kanna', 'Aadhavan' and 'Saravana' respectively.
Ravikumar is known to be a king of commercial entertainers and his films are known for fast paced screenplay and his films carry all ingredients such as comedy, sentiment, action and glamour.
Ravikumar is also a well known actor who has acted in character and villain roles in many films. He also follows the habit of appearing in at least one scene in every film he directs.
