The upcoming fun entertainer movie Ami Thumi is hitting the big screen on 9th June, 2017, which is tomorrow. So, on that occasion, we sat down with the creative director Mohan Krishna Indraganti who previously directed movies like Golconda High School, Ashta Chamma, Grahanam and more.

The interview started with the Amu Thumi director apologizing for being late because of the traffic.

“Sorry about that. The traffic near my house was stuck up for hours because of the rain!” he notes and smiles.

“Hopefully, the rain wouldn`t be a havoc tomorrow and the sun will brighten up for our audience to come and watch the movie” he says and laughs.

Soon, we settled down and relaxed and he too was ready to give details about his upcoming movie Ami Thumi.

How did the idea of Ami Thumi come around?

The story was just a casual thought of re-introducing the lost simplicity in the movies. The idea of a simple yet funny scene that happens in the daily life of a family in a comedic way was the main idea for Ami Thumi that I wanted to formulate and materialize.

How did you get the cast to work on this project?

The cast includes Adivi Shesh, Vennala Kishore, Aditi Myakal, Eesha Rebba and more. So, I had to just call them up and tell them about the story. We had a proper discussion with each and every member of the cast. They all agreed to the story immediately after the narration. They were all quick to coordinate with and extremely patient.

So, What`s the line?

Just like any ordinary family out there, this family too is just having one of those days where, the daughter in the family decides to fall in love with the lead actor. But her father doesn`t agree. So, a lot of twists and turns in the story make the whole movie turn out to be funny and entertaining. It will definitely engage the audience into the story.

How did the shooting go?

The shootings were very well planned. Initially, all the actors gave their availability schedules and luckily, they all happened to be free on the same dates that I was looking forward to film. All the cast members were extremely disciplined and never interfered with directing. We held a lot of discussions and observations to correct the script to bring out the best of the content. Because people will be spending a lot of money on the movie and you don`t want their hard work to go in waste. So, yeah...it all went really well and completed the whole filming in a very less time and in time.

You have Eesha Rebba and Aditi playing the roles of female leads. Sounds familiar to Ashta Chamma`s Swathi and late Bhargavi`s roles. What do you have to say about that?

I think it is nothing like Ashta Chamma but at the same time it is like Ashta Chamma.

He laughs before continuing.

I did have an idea of making an Ashta Chamma 2. But after the passing away of Bhargavi, I couldn`t imagine anyone else playing her role and the same mood can`t be created. But, Ami Thumi is a much more different movie. The characters are fun, they get into trouble, they pull Vennela Kishore and he becomes the butt of the joke in most of the scenes. It was all well put together. Most importantly, in this movie, the female leads have more character empowerment than the male ones.

How was working with the producer P. Ram Mohan?

He is a great man. He is very trust worthy person and he gave me a lot of freedom to choose from. He gave us all the resources that were needed and I would say Ami Thumi is the outcome of resources that were well used.

What do you want to say about Ami Thumi?

Ami Thumi is exactly what I pictured in my mind. Everyone worked hard and luckily, everything turned out good. Hopefully, everyone will watch the movie and like it. This is what I wanted. I directed a movie exactly how I wanted to. A feeling of satisfaction captured me at the end of the shooting sessions.

Ami Thumi`s trailer and the audio tracks got a great response from the audience and so far, everything looks great for the team of Ami Thumi. Some fans were waiting impatiently for the movie`s release and expressed their excitement on social media by tweeting.
