'Nishabdham', starring Anushka Shetty, R Madhavan and others, started streaming on an OTT platform from October 2. What is the status of the ambitious OTT release?

It's learned that the crime-thriller has satisfied all the stakeholders. Amazon Prime bought the film with good hopes and it secured the highest viewership. Given the genre, the ensemble cast, and the buzz, 'Nishabdham' pulled itself ahead despite perceptions to the contrary. The producers, too, are quite happy because the film fetched them a good deal in Telugu, Tamil and Malayalam. Since it's a direct OTT release, the deal was spectacular.

Amidst all this, director Hemant Madhukar is managing to turn heads in the film industry. It's learned that his experimentation with Anushka's character, his skill in extracting the best from cinematographer Shaneil Deo, music directors Girrish G and Gopi Sundar, the VFX team, the production design team has made many take notice of his talent.

Starring also Anjali, Michael Madsen, Subbaraju and others, the film was shot in the US.
