Director Hari's 'Yaanai' has hit the silver screens today. The film starring Arun Vijay and Priya Bhavani Shankar is winning positive reviews from all sides. Hari was taking part in many interviews as part of Yaanai's promotional campaign.
During a recent interview, Hari spilled beans about his project 'Aruvaa'. It was the film that he was supposed to have made with Suriya before he started working on Yaanai. The director clarified that Yaanai is a different script from the story he had narrated to Suriya as Aruvaa.
Hari said, "Reports suggesting that the movie is shelved are totally not true. Aruvaa still exists as a script. The project is just postponed. There are a multitude of reasons for a film to go on floors or get postponed. But they are professional reasons, and it wouldn’t be right to divulge them."
With the Pan-India films becoming a fashion in cinema, Hari opened up about whether Aruvaa will be a Pan-Indian movie or a regional one. He said, "I’d definitely not make it with intentions of making a pan-India film. If I start thinking about that, I’d lose the integrity in my screenplay and slip up. I go by the story, a screenplay the suits the story, a making style that would work for the screenplay, and the artistes who might fit the demands of the making style."
"If I start thinking that I should modify a scene so that it can connect to the Hindi belt or cast an artiste from there just because it will expand the film’s market, I don’t think it would be right. But you can market the film later across India. Even with Yaanai, we are dubbing it in other languages. So, my philosophy is that if a script works well here, it will reach Bombay in some way or the other," the filmmaker added.
