Director Bala has carved a unique niche for himself in Tamil cinema and also widespread reccognition nationally and internationally. His films have garnered 6 National Awards, 13 State awards, 15 Filmfare Awards and 14 International Festival Awards.

Bala fans were mighty disappointed that his recent film 'Varmaa' that was to have been the debut of actor Vikram's son Dhruv was shelved by the producer even after the full completion. The producer then reshot the entire movie with a new director titled 'Aditya Varma' and released it to mixed reviews. Bala's version that was released on OTT also was panned by critics.

However there is great curiosity among Bala fans as to what would be his next project and if recent buzz is anything to go by then it will most probably be a straight to OTT film. Netflix has reportedly signed a deal with Bala and the director is planning to source story and screenplay from others and has already started the process.

If this Netflix project materializes then it would be a new format of story telling from Bala that fans are going to witness and that too how he is going to handle scripts by others.
