Actress Kaniha had entered Tamil film industry with the movie Five star, and had acted in many movies in Tamil, Telugu and Malayalam. She is also a dubbing artist who has dubbed for heroines like Genelia and Shriya. Now, the actress is planning to surprise fans with her new role.

Kaniha is set to make her debut as a director, and has been directing a short film. Announcing her direction debut, she has posted on Instagram "Behind the camera for the first time. I've always felt Cinema is like an ocean. There are so many things for an artist to learn explore and shine.The passionate learner in me wanted to try directing for the first time. Be ready for a short film on a theme so close to my heart.❤ Post production in progress."

After pairing with Ajith in Varalaru, the actress was seen in a cameo in Maniratnam's Ok Kanmani, and had later acted in lead roles as well as supporting roles in many Malayalam movies.

Kaniha is making a comeback to Tamil films with Vijay Sethupathi's Yaadhum Oore Yaavarum Kelir.
