At the recently held audio launch of 'Lal Salaam', Director Aishwarya Rajinikanth, with all her might and vigour, justified her father, Rajinikanth, from being labelled as a 'Sanghi.' The speech by Aishwarya was heart-touching on the emotionally charged occasion that happened in Chennai on January 26. 'Lal Salaam,' a sports drama scheduled for release on February 9, took centre stage in the discussion.
Aishwarya expressed her disappointment over the social media attacks on her father and revealed, "In recent times, many people have called my father a Sanghi. I'd like to make it clear here: Rajinikanth is not a Sanghi. If he was, he wouldn't have done a film like 'Lal Salaam'." Aishwarya's revelation moved Rajinikanth to tears, which led his ardent fans to give an emotional reaction.
Aishwarya mentioned the struggles in getting 'Lal Salaam' off the ground, as many producers were not willing to back the project. She emphasized that she never even thought of involving her father in the film, and it was really difficult to gather backing for a sensitive subject.
When Rajinikanth proposed to depict the character of Moideen Bhai, initially Aishwarya had refrained herself as she thought it would spoil his image. But finally, his innate passion to play that role convinced her.
Appreciating the warmth of the local people during the shooting, Aishwarya thanked the people of Senji, Thiruvannamalai, and Pondicherry for looking after her father Rajinikanth as if he were one of their own sons.
'Lal Salaam,' a film with Vishnu Vishal and Vikranth playing the lead roles while Rajinikanth is seen playing an extended cameo, It is a film that deals with a contemporary and sensitive issue. Aishwarya concluded by thanking her father for taking on such challenging roles and emphasizing the humane quotient of 'Lal Salaam.' The film has been produced by Lyca Productions and will hit theatres on February 9.
