Story
'Direct Ishq' is a story of a Mumbai based Kabir (Arjun Bijlani) who visits his home town Banaras. Out there he meets an ambitious girl Dolly (NidhiSubbaiah) who has her own musical band. Kabir seeks a favour from her and in return promises a big musical launch for her. In this process, Kabir falls in love with Nidhi but on the other side, a local leader Vicky Shukla (Rajneesh Duggal) also falls in love with her. This leads to the dilemma point where Nidhi has to choose between her career and love.
Positivie Points
Rajneesh Duggal, marks his presence and gives few good scenes. His character is interesting and engaging. He shines among the bad actors and is the only saving grace in the movie. The one liner story reminds you of many love triangles from the 60s and 90s era. The story idea despite of being stale, is still bearable. There are many songs in this film and couple of them make their mark, including the song in the opening titles.
Negative Points
The screenplay and song placement ruins the flow of the film. The movie fails to connect with you at any level due to lack of good moments and conviction factor. There are few unintentionally funnyscenes including bad imitation of Dharmendra's drunken act from ‘Sholay’, followed by 'Dabangg' style, over the top action scenes where the heroine flies in the air and takes an air flip only to make a perfect landing in the moving jeep. The best of worst is a song - 'Ishq Nimboo Sa Hai', where the lead actors wear clothes matching to the colour shade of lemon and has weird lyrics.NidhiSubbaiah reminds you of a duplicate version of RimiSen and looks totally misfit for her character. Arjun Bijlani fails to impress. Rajesh Shringarpure is repetitive.
Two Line Review
The director presents this movie in a very routine format, making it a boring watch and will be yet another "now you see it, now you don't" type of films which gets released every week only to disappear into thin air.
