Jailbird Dinakaran has asked Bank of India’s Anna Nagar Branch in Madurai to return the ‘gold shield’, given to be kept in the Bank’s custody by former chief-minister J. Jayalalithaa and weighing 13 kgs in pure gold, to his faction of AIADMK.
‘Muthuramalinga Thevar Jayanti’ is to be held in Pasumpon, the birthplace of the famed Muthuramalinga Thevar, on 30th October (next Monday). Jayalalithaa had, in the year 2014, given a gold shield weighing 13 kgs in pure gold to be draped around Thevar’s statue in Pasumpon.
The gold shield is kept in Anna Nagar Branch of Bank of India in Madurai. Now that the AIADMK has unified under EPS and OPS, jailbird Dinakaran is causing problems aplenty to create an image as if he is heading a faction whereas in reality, very few cadres are with him. He has now sent a letter to the Bank asking for the gold shield.
“Please hand-over the gold shied to treasurer Rangasamy, appointed by (jailbird) Sasikala. It can also be handed over to the organizers of ‘Thevar Jayanti’ celebrations; the shield would be returned back to the Bank’s custody on 01st November,” jailbird Dinakaran’s letter said, purposely neglecting the fact that jailbird Sasikala’s appointment as party general secretary has been set aside by the general council.
