Dileep to return advance, Vinayan for defamation

The Association of Malayalam Movie Artistes (AMMA) has finally decided to ask actor Dileep to return the full advance amount that he received for acting in the proposed Tulasidas film that triggered all the ongoing flux and splits in MACTA.

Innocent, the president of AMMA said after the meeting on Sunday that AMMA had also decided not to take any disciplinary action against veteran actor Thilakan, regarding the comments he made against AMMA and actor Nedumudi Venu.

AMMA has also decided to hike the pension amount given to financially weak artistes, from Rs. 2000 to Rs. 2500. Seven more artistes would be added to the scheme taking the total number covered under the scheme to 54.

Meanwhile, the meeting of MACTA that was held the same day has decided to look into the allegation about the financial irregularities that had taken place during the term of the previous executive committee.

Explanation will be sought from the former office-bearers Vinayan and Ramachandra Babu for making misleading statements about Sunday are meeting in the press. The meeting also decided to take steps to end the abuse of its title and logo by others.

Vinayan, responding to the allegations of financial misconduct raised against him by the newly elected representatives of MACTA Cultural Forum, challenged his opponents to prove the allegations.

I am going to file a defamation suit for Rs.50 lakh, against all in the newly elected MACTA Cultural Forum for raising these baseless allegations, he said. Vinayan also demanded a probe by a governmental agency, into the use of funds by various elected bodies of MACTA since its inception.

Vinayan further added that there were many irregularities in the conduct of the Sangeetha sangamam organized by his predecessors in the MACTA forum in 1995. A cheque of Rs.2.5 lakh, issued to the family of the late musician bounced back due to deficient funds in the bank. The office bearers also failed to set up a music academy in memory of Music director Baburaj, even after earning lakhs of rupees by organizing such a the music night, with the aim to collect funds for the project.
