As per the latest update on the ongoing cinema strike in Kerala, the Film exhibitors Federation are on the verge of a split. We have earlier reported that all A-class theatres in the state are indefinitely shut since January 12th. And now, many 'A' class theatres are against the ongoing strike, and have joined together to form a new body along with the Cine exhibitors association (the 'B' class theatres association). The new body will be led by actor-producer Dileep along with the support of AMMA association.
A total of 200 'B' class theatres and over 30 'A' theatres have extended their support for the new body at the recent meeting of producers and film exhibitors' association held in Kochi, yesterday. This new decision was taken followed by the box-office success of Vijaya`s Bairavaa that released over 200 theatres(not under the federation) in Kerala. Around 30 'A' Class theatres under the Federation, also released Bairavaa. Once after the new body is formed, all pending Mollywood releases will hit the theatres soon!
