Malayalam actor Dileep has been questioned at the Crime Branch police office in Kalamassery since Sunday in a non-bailable case related to a conspiracy to attack investigating officials. The Kerala High Court, in its interim order on Saturday, said the accused should not be arrested till January 27 and that they be interrogated from January 23 onwards, from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Along with actor Dileep, his associates, including his brother, brother-in-law, and two friends are also being questioned. On Monday, Dileep arrived at the crime branch office in Kalamassery for the second day in the interrogation. The crime branch grilled the actor for 11 hours yesterday and the team reviewed that Dileep's replies were inconsistent. The investigation team also assessed that many of his replies were not credible.

For the unversed, actor Dileep is back in the news for the wrong reasons after a popular South Indian heroine complained that she was abducted and sexually assaulted by a gang of goons in 2017 and certain scenes were filmed to blackmail her. During the investigation, it was found that actor Dileep was the main conspirator in the case. Following this, Dileep was arrested and jailed. He spent two months in prison before getting bail and the trial is going on.

Recently, in a shocking turn of events, Dileep's former close associate of Dileep, Balachandrakumar, a movie director who had fallen out with the actor, revealed that the actor had conspired to do away with the investigating officers in the case. The police officers who Dileep had allegedly said that he would do away with included DGP B. Sandhya, ADGP S. Sreejith, SPs A.V. George and S. Sudarshan, and Deputy SP Byju Paulose. Balachandrakumar made the deposition before a magistrate's court along with a few audio recordings he had made at Dileep's residence.

Meanwhile, the government requested the Supreme Court to extend the trial of the case for 6 months by considering the latest developments in the case. However, on Monday, the Supreme Court of India dismissed the Kerala government’s plea. As per the previous order, the trial of the actress attack case should be completed by February 16.
