Dil Raju has stoked a controversy by saying that Thalapathy Vijay is the undisputed No. 1 star of Tamil cinema. He made the remarks in relation to Ajith.
"For Pongal, we have two big Tamil releases coming up: 'Vaarisu' and 'Thunivu'. In Tamil Nadu, there are 800 screens. An equal number of screens have been allotted to the two movies. Vijay, as everyone knows, is the No. 1 star. Next comes Ajith. How can both films be given an equal number of screens? 'Vaarisu' needs at least 50 screens more than 'Thunivu'," Raju remarked during an interview.
He is going to meet Red Giant Movies, the distribution company owned by Udhayanidhi Stalin, in Chennai, on Friday. Raju wants to convince that 'Vaarisu', directed by Vamsi Paidipally, deserves a higher allocation.
The remarks have led to his name trending on Twitter India. Raju is being trolled by many. Industry observers feel a producer of his stature should have been diplomatic.
