Here's an update on digital release of '83'

The sudden spike in the number of Covid-19 infected cases recently and the emergence of a new virus variant have disrupted the entire film release schedule of Bollywood. All the movies which were supposed to release in January have been cancelled and those which are already in theatres are facing a tough time now. Ranveer Singh's '83' is also in difficult place since footfall in the theatres has become minimal after the omicron scare and it has yet to recover a huge chunk of money to break even.

Recently, there were speculations that the makers of '83' are planning to cut its theatrical run short in order to distribute the film on OTT platforms. However, the latest buzz suggests that '83' won't be having a digital release before 8 weeks of its theatrical release.

A source close to the development told a news outlet, “It’s a business decision and the film continues to attract cinema goers to come and watch it for a theatrical experience that the film is made for in the regions where ever the film is still running and theatre are open. Hence the push from 4 to 8 weeks for OTT drop.”
