Whether or not we noticed the pauses given by Prabhas, Rana and other actors in their dialogue-delivery in the 'Baahubali' movies, the discerning among the Japanese have found them serving a creative purpose.

A translator named Yoko Deshmukh is of the view that the pauses are similar to the pauses in the Mie-wo-kiru acts of Kabuki, a dance-drama form in Japan. The second-long pauses which may have mostly gone unnoticed actually are enabling the Japanese to understand the story-telling better. Both the editions of 'Baahubali' have been released in the Japanese language.

For his part, Rajamouli doesn't seem to have been inspired by Kabuki at all. He must have taken cues from Indian mythological movies and the rich theatre traditions of the country.
