Director Alphonse Puthran's 2015 release Premam is a movie that made waves all over South India. ‘Premam’ is about a love affair that takes place over three periods in the life of a young man named George. The film stars Anupama Parameswaran, Sai Pallavi, Madonna, Nivin Pauly, and a bunch of newcomers. However, even after you leave the theatre, the first thing that comes to mind is Malar miss and her student George.
After watching the coming of age movie, it has left several movie-buffs curious on whether actress Sai Pallavi's character Malar had actually lost her memory or purposefully avoided Nivin Pauly's character towards the climax.
Six years after the film's release, the director finally answered the much-hyped question. In a recent interaction with fans, the director was asked about the same, and here's what the director replied. Alphonse said that Malar did lose her memory after the accident. Once after she regained her memory, she remembered George. Seeing him at his wedding, Malar realizes that he is happy with Celine.
George also realized that Malar had regained his memory when showed the 'super' action with her hand. The director added that he revealed this through actions and music and not by dialogues.
Alphonse also answered the question of whether Celine was Mary's sister, played by Anupama. The director said that Celine is not Mary’s sister. "The person who did the subtitle went around clueless because he could not find elder sister's English word. The subtitle shows Mary as Sister. If Celine was Mary’s sister, I would have shown Celine sitting in Mary’s house in the movie, ”Alphonse explained.
