Much before the relase of Kaatru Veliyidai, the makers have begun building a buzz around, with the gradual release of Rahman`s ear wormy tunes. Some listeners have pointed out that the movie's recently released song Saarattu Vandiyila sounds very similar to a Malayalam song -Thannakkum Tharo Thannakkum, from the 2013 Malayalam film Breaking News Live.

The latter is composed by Mohan Sithara. When media got in touch with Mohan Sithara to enquire whether the Kaatru Veliyidai team had taken permission to use the tune, the musician said that nobody has taken permission from him. However, Sithara is not taking offense to the incident. Mohan said that it could be a “misunderstanding” and he had all praise for the music legend AR Rahman.

Kaatru Veliyidai, produced by Madras Talkies has Karthi and Aditi Rao Hydari in the lead. The movie has an ensemble cast which includes veteran actor Lalitha, Shraddha Srinath, Rukmini Vijay Kumar, Delhi Ganesh, R J Balaji and many others. Sri Thenandal Films hold the distribution rights of the film, which is gearing up for a grand release on April 7th.
