Actress and model Dia Mirza lost her father at a very young age and since then she has been raised by her mother and her step father. In a recent conversation with a news outlet, Dia revealed that she wished she had some of the belongings of her biological father, Frank Handrich. Dia was born to Deepa Mirza, an interior designer and Frank Handrich, a German artist. Frank passed away when Dia was 9 years old.

At the time of his passing, Frank had an another family which inherited all his belongings. Talking about that, Dia told Harper Bazaar, "All his belongings went to my step-brother who was born after he left. Some years ago, my step-brother came to Bombay to visit my mum and me, and I was showing him around the house."

The actress added, "He walked into the corridor where I have lots of photographs, and there is one of me as a baby with my parents. In that moment, all the years of pain and baggage I was carrying, about wanting my father’s things, disappeared... I realised what I had was even more precious, which is my memories of him.”
