Dia Mirza: Religion Should Not Be an Identity

Indian model, actress and producer Dia Mirza opens up on the increasing intolerance in the country. She says religion is something she explored and discovered but has never been her identity.
At a recent event she said, "I went to school that followed philosophy of Jiddu Krishnamurthy. I am daughter of Christian father and Bengali mom and rose in a Muslim family so religion has never been my identity it's something I explored through course of time." She also added saying, "Identification boundary limits a person. Religion and faith should be followed and practiced but should not be an identity." She concludes it by saying, "the day when politics and religion will be treated independently, we can say we live in a democratic country.
The beautiful Dia Mirza has not only worked in Bollywood but is also known in media for her social work. She has been involved with several causes like Cancer Patients Aid Association, Spastics Society of India, spread HIV awareness, prevention of female foeticide and many more that supports the society and the cause.
