MS Dhoni had quit captaincy years back, but is a prominent member of the Indian ODI team, and has been proving to be an asset with his cricketing skills and guidance from behind the stumps. Many a time, the veteran wicketkeeper has been helpful for the team in gaining an advantage over the opposition, and helping skipper Virat Kohli win matches by easing his pressure.
One such instance of Dhoni's guidance helping the bowler get wickets was witnessed today at the 1st ODI against New Zealand in Napier. Dhoni had been observing Trent Boult's batting from behind the stumps, Dhoni said "Ye aankh band kar ke rokega. Udhar se daal sakta hai. Idhar se andar nahi aayega. Tere upar hai" meaning Boult will just block the ball, and so he must bowl round the wicket. Kuldeep listened to Dhoni's words, and bowled a googly.
As Dhoni said, Boult tried to defend and edged the ball to Rohit Sharma at slip, who took the catch. With the technology making sure that the stump mic records players voices clearly, the fans of Dhoni are in awe over his cricketing knowledge and his ability to read the mind of players, and praised the cricketer. It was recently that Dhoni made a stunning comeback to form with his back to back 50s against Australia to win the player of the series award.
