It's known that the International Cricket Council (ICC) on Thursday requested the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) to get the 'Balidaan Badge' of the Indian Para Special Forces removed from MS Dhoni's wicket-keeping gloves. Following this, there has been much outrage in India. On social media, Dhoni is receiving an outpouring of unprecedented support. His fans and other Indians have floated hashtags to express their moral support.
Even celebs have reacted to the issue. Mega hero Sai Dharam Tej said, "It would be nice of ICC to focus on the umpires than Dhoni's gloves."
Bollywood actor Riteish Deshmukh wrote a strong comment when he said, "Indian Army has always been independent irrespective of the political party in power. We are proud of them. Lt. Col. Dhoni has worn the Army insignia as a symbol of pride. Doesn’t hurt anyone’s sentiments, In fact, it honours the brave."
Major Gaurav Arya wrote, "Dhoni is an officer of Para Regt. Don’t take off those gloves. Balidaan is a badge of honour. It represents the finest of Indian Army. I have always looked at that badge with awe and respect. The nation stands with you."
Meanwhile, the ICC sources have been quoted as saying by a news agency that, if Dhoni and BCCI convince ICC that the badge does not have any political, religious, or racial message, the cricketer won't be asked to remove it.
