Dhee...Kotti Choodu
Vishnu had two releases already this season. Game and Asthram, both are the remakes of Hindi hits.
Both the films had their moments but it did not set any new records. And Vishnu is still left looking for that landmark movie.
For all one looked, Dhee could be the one. For, it promises plenty. Suspense, action and romance aplenty in fact.
Dhee is a brooding movie on love and violence interspersed in interesting combination. The old world of Hyderabad, the dark streets paved with blood and guts provide an intriguing backdrop.
Vishnu plays the role of a taciturn youth, who is the hatchet man for a dada of the area. Sincerity and implicit loyalty are his watchwords. He doesn't ask why, he does whatever he is bided to.
But out of the blue, a girl from the mists of time comes and stays with him. Why? He doesn't know. But it is from this point the story and the young man evolve.
Srinu Vytla, the director, has woven an interesting story and taut script, around two enigmatic personalities.
For Vishnu, the importance of this film need not be overstated.
He is at a stage of his fledgling career where a big blockbuster is the need. Vishnu, to be fair to him, has been trying. Sometimes, over-trying.
But the young man has the potential, and this story also has the potential. So it should work well.
Genelia, on the other hand, is almost on the top of the world. The young girl redeemed herself with a stupendous show in Bommarillu. Her performance was so rocking that Siddharth called her the real hero of that film. So buoyed by that confidence, the young girl can be expected to give her best.
Sri Hari plays a lynchpin character. It is on him the story pivots.
The music and songs of Chakri are also good.
Srinu Vytla has showed us many times over that he can handle a film that is good overall and well rounded.
There is no reason to believe Dhee will not be one.
Producer Malladi Satyanarayana Reddy has produced the film on Siri Venkateshwara Films.
The movie will be released this month.
