Exactly a year back on the 6th of February, the parents of six year old Hasini who lived in an apartment building in Mugalivakkam reported that their daughter was missing. It came to light that the little girl had been brutally raped and burnt to death by a neighbour techie Dhashvanth who was arrested.  But due to lapses by the police Dhasvanth got statutory bail and went scot free for a few months.

In a major twist, Dhasvanth killed his own mother and robbed jewellery from her and he was later arrested in Mumbai and has confessed to his crimes.  The Chengalput Court today found the accused guilty of kidnapping, abduction, assault or use of criminal force on woman with intent to disrobe, murder and causing disappearence of evidence.  The quantum of the punishment is due soon and which would be severe for the 23 year old as legal experts predict either a death or life sentences.   After reserving judegement for 1 hour the judges pronounced the death sentence to Dhasvanth and the parents of Hasini greeted it with tears in their eyes.
