Days after the Dharani portal became operational in Telangana, an alleged fraud has come to light. A woman named Vijayalakshmi from Nalgonda has been found to have attempted to illegally transferring one acre and 32 guntas to her daughter Priyanka almost a year after selling the same land to one Kotla Jagadeesh.

Jagadeesh, also a resident of Nalgonda district, discovered by checking the Dharani portal that the land that had been sold to him was not in his name. He approached the tahsildar, who said that Vijayalakshmi was still the owner. Jagadeesh suspected that the mutation process was not yet completed.

He approached the police, who checked the records and found that Vijayalakshmi was attempting to make a fresh transaction after selling off the land in November 2019.

It's reported that the case is one of the first instances of land-related fraud discovered because of Dharani portal's features.
